About the Photographer and Photograph:
I shot this photo at a wildlife reserve in Glen Rose Texas. I sat in the back of a truck so it allowed me to get eye level with many of the animals, including this emu. I shot it with a 70-300L lens on a Canon 5D Mark II. My main goal was to make sure I got the eye in focus but I just took a bunch of photos in rapid succession, hoping to get an interesting pose out of the animal.

What an absolutely beautiful photo, Barrett! We love the simplicity, as Miksang should highlight. The curiosity in the emu’s face really sells the photograph! The theme isn’t always the easiest for photographers to understand and capture, but you did a perfect job with this great photograph!
